Development
AchievementsResearches performed by our faculty and alumni have produced enormous achievements and great contributions to the agriculture progress of Taiwan. Recent accomplishments include development of rice mutation pools with wide diversity and release three rice varieties. Breed new Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza) varieties with high active ingredients through mutagenesis and hybrid baby corn variety. Trough recurrent selection and anther culture we developed new Echinacea purpurea variety with high productivity. Using marker-assisted selection to pyramid five genes we developed the first rice variety with broad range resistance to bacterial blight disease. Our genomic studies identified the virus resistance genes in Cucumis metuliferus and mapped new QTLs resistant to bacterial blight disease in rice mutants.
